Execute advanced operations analysis and simulation tasks for various Bus Transit and Rail systems to optimize performance and efficiency.
- Work collaboratively within a diverse, multi-disciplinary team to achieve project goals and deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Organize, facilitate, and coordinate meetings with public partners, ensuring comprehensive documentation and follow-up on action items.
- Develop and compile detailed technical reports and analyses to support planning and decision-making processes for transit projects.
- Review and evaluate project proposals and transit project implementations to ensure adherence to state and federal mandates.
- Document all phases of transit project oversight, maintaining thorough and accurate records of progress and compliance.
- Monitor project milestones and progress, ensuring timely achievement of objectives and identifying potential issues early.
- Conduct field inspections of state and federally funded transportation assets throughout Central Florida and beyond to ensure compliance and quality.
- Assist in the completion of public transit plans, studies, and analyses, providing valuable insights and recommendations.
- Research and disseminate best practices, advising transit stakeholders to aid in informed decision-making.
- Support the development and implementation of transit management/oversight procedures and training programs for enhanced operational efficiency.
- Prepare technical reports and memos in coordination with VHB staff, draft correspondence on behalf of clients, and maintain daily interfacing with clients through virtual and/or in-person meetings.
- Potential for in-house roles at public sector clients' offices, providing direct support and expertise.
- Assist in preparing technical presentations and materials for informational meetings, ensuring clarity and completeness for both in-person and virtual audiences.
- Stay abreast of industry changes, requirements, policies, procedures, and legislation, interpret and apply relevant codes, ordinances, and regulations, and take necessary actions to address deficiencies or violations.
- Review proposed project applications to ensure compliance with state and federal mandates, conduct risk assessments of awardees to evaluate fiscal and managerial capabilities, and ensure safe and effective use of public funds.
- Perform inspections of federally funded assets to verify compliance and aid in the continuous improvement of transportation infrastructure.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong interest in transportation planning, particularly with a focus on transit.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and time management
- Intermediate to Advanced working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams
- Ability to think critically and solve problems
- Ability to read and interpret federal and state terminology
- Ability to take on new tasks and adapt to different work assignments and personalities
- Commitment to safety, quality, and customer service
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Planning or related field
- 3+ years of related professional transit experience
- Basic understanding of Florida's coordinated transportation system, agencies, and their roles and functions preferred
- Geographic Information System (GIS), ArcGIS Pro experience required
