Job Title: Grant Writer Associate

FLSA Status: Full Time - non-exempt
Reports to: Director of Grant Writing

Schedule: Monday-Friday
Supervises: n/a

Rate of Pay: $30.28/hr

Closing Date: 05/05/2025

Function: Under the direction of the Director of Grant Writing the Grant Writer Associate will provide general office and administrative support to the Director of Community Engagement for the Intermountain Division. This position plays a critical role to the fundraising efforts of the Intermountain Division through foundation, corporate and government communication, and interface.

This position will be responsible for conducting research on available funding through foundations, corporations, city, state, and federal government grants along with assisting with and/or writing and editing grant proposals and reports.

Minimally 21 years of age and possessing a valid in-state Driver's License

Software-related skills:

General office experience with a working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Working knowledge of integrated database applications and ability to use new software with basic training, including Portfolio, donor search & others.

Duties and Responsibilities:



  1. Work within the established framework and organization of the Division.
  2. Enter grant information into Portfolio for all applications and awards.
  3. Includes scanning and attaching grant documents.
  4. Assist with entering communication notes as requested by the Director of Community Engagement.
  5. Ability to multi-task managing a variety of assignments and timelines.
  6. Possess excellent written communication skills and be able to draft and edit communications and applications.
  7. Work within the policies of The Salvation Army in carrying out the duties and responsibilities of the position.
  8. Conduct research on possible grant funding opportunities.
  9. Maintain a calendar of grant proposal due dates including letters of intent, grant applications and interim and final reports to grantees.
  10. Assist Corps Officers with and/or write proposals for grants up to $50,000.
  11. Complete all compliance reports in a timely manner.
  12. Attend grant workshops as needed.
  13. Prepare grant contracts and agreements for CFC approval.
  14. Prepare acknowledgements for grant awards.
  15. Other duties as assigned.


General Office Support



  • Assist with maintaining office supplies, copier including shooting issues.
  • Create meeting presentation materials as needed.
  • Assist other development disciplines as needed.
  • Take notes at all relevant meetings.


Qualification and Education Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree required. At least three years administration experience in a general office setting.
  • Grant writing experience preferred.
  • Be supportive of The Salvation Army's mission. Ability to reflect and model the high standards of our organization as one of the world's most distinguished human services charitable organizations.
  • Driving


    • A minimum age of 21 (for insurance provision) and possession of a valid in-state driver's license is required.
    • An MVR will be processed every year per The Salvation Army's policies.


  • Background Check

    • Continued employment will be contingent upon a biennial (every two years) background check that is processed per The Salvation Army's policies.
