The University of Arizona Cancer Center (UACC) is a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center dedicated to the prevention and cure of cancer through patient care, research, and education. The UACC is the only NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center headquartered in the State of Arizona and one of only 53 in the nation.

The UACC Cancer Prevention and Control Program is seeking a talented postdoctoral trainee to join their team. The successful candidate will conduct innovative research examining cancer risk factors, outcomes, and disparities across under-resourced populations.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Design and execute research projects
    investigating cancer epidemiology, prevention, and outcomes related to
    variation in the burden of disease in population subgroups.
  • Author manuscripts for peer-reviewed
    publications and present findings at scientific conferences.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of
    clinicians, statisticians, and public health researchers.
  • Mentor graduate students and research
    assistants.
  • Contribute to grant writing and funding
    applications.
  • Lead grant submissions, such as supplements,
    pilot awards, and career development awards.
  • Participate in regular training and
    professional development opportunities.

Knowledge, Skills, and
Abilities:

  • Proficiency in statistical software (R, SAS,
    or STATA).
  • Excellence in scientific writing and
    communication.
  • Track record of peer-reviewed publications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a
    team.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple
    projects.
  • Data analysis, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Minimum Qualifications
  • MD or PhD in Public
    Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Nursing, Health Promotion, or related
    field.
  • Research
    experience and background in cancer research, epidemiological methods, and
    statistical analysis.
  • Must have first
    authored peer-reviewed original publications.
  • Prior
    experience in conducting data analysis.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in cancer prevention and/or implementation science research.
  • Experience with large datasets management and analysis.
