Position Highlights The University Facility Management installs, maintains, and repairs locking mechanisms on University buildings, enclosures, infrastructure, equipment, desks, cabinets, and storage containers in keeping with defined University security and quality standards and protocols, applying ADA and UBC codes.
Installs, adjusts and services locks from a variety of manufacturers including Corbin, Sargent, Best, Von-Duprin and Schlage.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Opens, repairs and changes combinations on safes and security containers.
  • Opens locks for which there is no key or existing combinations. Installs, services and repairs emergency exit hardware on doors.
  • Cuts new or duplicate keys from existing keys or codes to manufacturers specifications.
  • Installs, services and repairs mortise, cylindrical, rim and auxiliary locks.
  • Installs, services and repairs desk locks and file cabinet locks.
  • Installs, services and repairs electrified door locking hardware including exit devices, electric strikes, electrified levers and battery-operated digital keypads.
  • Prepares labor and material estimates.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Hand tools and power tools knowledge.
  • Computer skills, familiar with various programs.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations.
  • Good communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
  • In addition to the education and experience minimum qualifications, Apprenticeship program, technical training experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to
    the University Fleet Safety Policy.
  • Lift up to 50lbs without assistance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Sargent, Corbin, or other manufacturers of sectional master key systems.
  • Experience with Medeco Biaxial key systems.
  • Experience with installing, programming, and repairing stand-alone battery operated digital keypad locks.
  • Experience with electronic access systems.
  • Experience with application of ADA and UBC codes.
