Main Duties & Responsibilities

Job
Summary:

As a direct report to the Engineering Director
or delegate of the Engineering Director, the Staff Engineer shall have dotted-line
reports within the Manufacturing Engineering (New Products and Tooling)
team. They shall be responsible to plan,
organize, implement and control a variety of activities related to New Product
Development Manufacturing Engineering. These activities include, but are not limited to: planning, directing and coordinating tooling
designs, developing manufacturing processes, standards, and/or visual work
instructions for New Products thru the Manufacturing Readiness Review (MRR)
process. These items shall be released
to the production floor and transition to the Continuous Improvement and
Sustaining Engineering team. New Products include both RSA Intellectual
Property (IP) designs and customer Build-to-Print packages (B2P). B2P projects may be in the form of Model
Based Definition (MBD) / Digital Product Definition (DPD).

Required
Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Physics, Aeronautical Engineering or Industrial Engineering.Advanced degree preferred.Understanding of a broad range of engineering skills.Product development background necessary.
2 - 8+ years of experience in metallic or composite ducting or structure manufacturing.Emphasis in welded sheet metal assemblies.Must have experience with the following:
Use of an ERP system (i.e. SAP, InforXA, Epicor, etc.)
Creation of work instructions (i.e. MASTER ROUTERS, Travelers, etc.)
Design of tools or shop aids
Sheet metal forming processes
Welding requirements per AWS D17.1 and AWS D17.2 or other similar industry standards
Review, redline, and approval of manufacturing or tooling drawings and/or models
Feedback for new engineering designs pertaining to Design for Manufacturability
Estimating Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) efforts of the Manufacturing Engineering Team
Experience in a Product Development Phase (i.e. initial design for manufacturability and redesigns, as required during the development phase).
Understanding of the value of Project Management Skills with experience working with internal or external customers and resources.
Experience writing, reviewing, or approving certification documentation, such as: ATP, QTP, QTR, etc.
Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to read / support the creation of 3D models and 2D drawings with dimensioning and tolerance per ANSI/ASME Y14.5 standards.
Thorough understanding of industry specifications, such as MIL, AN, MS, NAS, ASTM, AMS, etc.
Preferred experience with CAD software (CATIA V5 or Solidworks).
10% or less travel.

Principal
Duties & Responsibilities:

Mentor, support, and assign projects to the Manufacturing Engineering team with a diverse set of disciplines.
Organize, schedule and supervise efforts of Tooling Design and New Product Manufacturing Engineering to ensure engineering activities are completed on schedule and within cost.
Execution of and peer review of detailed design activities including: manufacturing drawing review, tooling designs, inspection aids, project schedules, etc.
Evaluate engineers' performance and track their developmental needs.Mentoring of junior engineers.
Training new Manufacturing Engineers to company SOP's.
Establish department budget and personnel requirements.
Support Marketing in technical/customer presentations.
Providing manufacturability and technical feedback to proposed bid packages
Assure manufacturing design compliance to customer requirements.
Schedule manufacturing reviews (i.e. MRRs), Engineering Change Request (ECR) reviews, department meetings and interdepartmental presentations to ensure New Product manufacturing points are understood and are concurrent with other organization activities.
Ensure New Product manufacturing engineering requirements are transitioned to the Continuous Improvement and Sustaining Engineering team.
Ability to take "hands on" approach as well as give appropriate direction.
Set engineering standards and policies that promote technical excellence and interdepartmental cooperation.
Implement appropriate design/office automation tools and methods to ensure the efficiency of departmental design and documentation tasks.
Perform other duties as assigned
Conform to company safety policies and procedures.
Work in a team environment.
Work with operators to prove out best methods for production.
Assist programs management team in creating and adhering to schedules for new production.
Disposition non-conforming hardware to be reworked back to allowable conditions
Improving processes to increase first pass yield and reduce overall defect rate
Delegate roles and responsibilities to other manufacturing engineers as appropriate.

The pay scale for this salaried position ranges from $90,000- $130,000 annually.
