Vaco is partnering with a great company who is looking for a Benefits Manager!Position Summary:

The Benefits Manager is responsible for overseeing and administering the organization's employee benefits programs, ensuring they align with the nonprofit's mission and employee needs. This role involves managing health insurance, retirement plans, leave policies, and other employee benefits to promote a supportive and competitive work environment. The Benefits Manager collaborates with HR leadership, employees, and external vendors to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and to enhance employee well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer and manage all employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, life insurance, disability, and wellness programs.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding benefits, ensuring clear communication and education on available options.

  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to benefits offerings to enhance employee satisfaction and organizational competitiveness.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws related to benefits administration, including ERISA, ACA, FMLA, and HIPAA.

  • Work closely with HR, finance, and leadership to manage benefits-related budgeting and cost containment strategies.

  • Conduct benefits orientations for new employees and provide ongoing training to ensure staff understanding of their benefits.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of employee benefits enrollments, changes, and terminations.

  • Partner with benefits providers and brokers to negotiate terms, renewals, and new offerings that align with organizational goals.

  • Develop and distribute benefits-related communication materials to employees to promote awareness and utilization.

  • Stay informed on industry trends, legislative changes, and best practices to ensure the organization remains compliant and competitive in the nonprofit sector.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 3-5 years of experience in benefits administration, preferably in a nonprofit organization.

  • Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations governing employee benefits.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to educate and support employees.

  • Experience with HRIS and benefits administration platforms.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess and improve benefits programs.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic nonprofit environment.

  • Commitment to the mission and values of the nonprofit sector.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional certification such as Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), SHRM-CP, or PHR.

  • Experience negotiating with benefits providers and managing open enrollment processes.

  • Familiarity with nonprofit compensation structures and unique employee benefit needs.



Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law in geographies that require salary range disclosure, Vaco/Highspring notes the salary range for the role is noted in this job posting. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company's 401(k) retirement plan.
