National Grid is hiring a Lead Finance Business Partner to support the New York Electric business, specifically the NY Electric Operations team. This position is based within our finance team located in Syracuse or Albany, NY

About the Role

As a Lead Finance Business Partner, act to:

* Support the business in creating and managing annual operating budgets and long-term business plans by delivering financial and business insights. Collaborate with FP&A to provide essential assumptions that will influence the results and strategic direction of the businesses and groups.
* Provide business stakeholders with timely analysis and relevant information to develop strategies that address future business and energy needs while operating within the economic and regulatory environment.
* Find creative ways to solve big picture challenges through detailed analysis, strategic thinking, and cross-functional teaming.

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing employees to work both remotely and on-site. Specific in-office days will be determined in coordination with the team and management to ensure effective collaboration and communication.

What You'll Do

* Act as a key Business Partner to the NY Electric Operations team leading them through the long-term business and financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes with aim to drive financial performance
* Effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop financial models and evaluate the financial impact of various initiatives, projects, and operational changes.
* Deliver monthly results in a format that is accessible to both finance and non-finance audiences, providing insights and emphasizing key focus areas to optimize long-term efficiencies. Additionally, identify potential headwinds and tailwinds, and supportaccountablestakeholders in developing effective mitigation strategies.
* Present actionable plans to address any issues and ensure timely implementation of corrective measures.
* Encourage and challenge the business to align processes and activities for optimal performance. Foster value creation by identifying opportunities and insights that promote improvement initiatives
* Develop strong, collaborative working relationships across teams, functions, and levels.
* Apply analytical skills, judgement, attention to detail, and creativity to effectively solve problems.
* Support the provision of ad hoc analysis as required in support of value and business cases, rate case fillings, regulatory requirements and general decision making.
* Actively contribute to the business to impact the shape of commercial and non-financial performance related decisions. Drive the management of performance, financial risks and the implementation and maintenance of controls.
* Have a clear understanding of application of GAAP and IFRS accounting and be able to interpret results in both and US/UK currencies.
* Navigate ambiguity, take initiative, and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, balancing the needs of multiple stakeholder groups.

What You'll Need

* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or equivalent practical experience;6+ years of Finance related experience, public accounting experience is a plus.
* Demonstrated partnering experience to act as a trusted advisor using strategic insight to deliver tangible performance improvements.
* Strong commercial acumen and ability to influence and impact the decisions and financial performance of senior stakeholders and their teams throughout the relevant business area.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Proven track record in managing conflicting stakeholder interests.
* Demonstrated critical thinking skills with an ability to identify key issues and recommend solutions to complex problems using data, logic, and financial insight.
* Ability to deal with uncertainty and adopt a flexible approach to effectively help manage and drive all types of planned and unplanned change that improve support to the business.
* Ability to prioritize workload and manage to deadlines.
* Ability to collaborate, iterate, and influence.
* Exhibit a proactive attitude towards professional growth and a willingness to expand knowledge. of utility operations (i.e., field visits).
* Understanding of US GAAP and IFRS Accounting principles and strong financial controls skills preferred.
* Financial modelling, data consolidation, data analysis (MS Excel) experience

Salary

$103,000-$121,000

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
