Gundersen Health System is seeking a part-time Urgent Care Technician/EMT to join our highly committed and dynamic Winona Urgent Care team as we provide excellent quality care to over 65-100 patients of all ages daily.

What You'll Do:

The Winona Urgent Care department consists of 13 total patient treatment/exam rooms.As an Urgent Care Technician/EMT you are expected to perform with a high degree of clinical and professional aptitude while helping deliver patient care as part of a professional multidisciplinary team of Providers, RNs, EMTs, patient liaisons, lab, and imaging services. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Assist in patient assessments including patients' physical conditions, muscle strength, coordination, ability to talk, ability to see, and hearing ability. Assist patients in the areas of nutrition, elimination, comfort, mobility and safety

  • Demonstrate knowledge and use of monitor/defibrillators including performing defibrillation, pacing, and cardioversion. Respond to Code Blue, MRT, and CRT pages and provide monitoring, defibrillating and other skilled measures as ordered

  • Provide specialty testing including, but not limited to EKG and point of care testing (blood sugar, iStat-creatinine, Hemocue-Hgb/Hct, Intoximeter-breath alcohol)

  • Perform urine, stool, sputum, throat and nasal specimen collectionunder the direction of RN or clinician

  • Perform case/splint application and maintenance (orthoglass, plaster, and Velcro) under the direction of the clinician

  • Fit patients with appropriately sized walkers/canes/crutches and other assistive devices as well as provide patient instruction and education

  • Assist, as needed, during medical examinations and treatments of the patient including suturing, wound care, and intravenous access

  • Perform daily checks and maintain logs of emergency medical equipment and supplies

What's Available:

  • Part time, 48 hours biweekly (0.6 FTE). Will orientate/train as close to full-time as possible

  • Variable shifts between the hours of 7a-9p M-F and 9a-5p Sat-Sun

  • Starting pay of $18.31 per hour and up, based on your years of experience, along with generous shift/weekend/holiday differentials

What You'll Need:

  • High School Diploma or equivalency

  • National Registry Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (NREMT)

  • Emergency Medical Technician - Minnesota (EMT-MN)

  • Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers

  • Prior work experience in an emergency or pre-hospital setting is strongly preferred
