JOB SUMMARY
The Associate Director of Prospect Development works collaboratively with the Director of Prospect Development and Prospect Research Analyst as a data-driven team member to champion the prospect identification, prospect management and pipeline management efforts for the fundraising officers within UT Southwestern Medical Center's Office of Development and Alumni Relations. The Associate Director of Prospect Development works as a strategic partner with the front-line fundraising team to manage prospect portfolios, track prospect activity, collaborate on prospect strategies, and provide prospect research support. Reporting to the Director of Prospect Development, the Associate Director proactively works to expand the pool of potential prospects.
The ideal candidate for this role is a collegial team player with excellent customer service skills and experience in prospect management and/or prospect research, who is very familiar with a broad range of research techniques and prospect development best practices. Preferences include:
- Experience working within a CRM, preferably Raiser's Edge or Salesforce, and Microsoft 365
- Proficiency in using prospect research tools and databases
- Knowledge of APRA principles and practices, with a preference for current or past APRA membership
- Experience working with frontline fundraising officers
- Advanced research and online search techniques

5 years of related experience, and a demonstrated ability to develop, plan, implement and evaluate research strategies and integrate them into fundraising initiatives

JOB DUTIES
- Assesses, develops and implements standard policies, processes and systems to assist front-line fundraising efforts to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward individual, corporate and foundation donors.
- Identifies and qualifies new prospects that have the capacity to provide philanthropic support at the major gift level.
- Creates and maintains a prospect management program to effectively track/monitor prospects through the successive stages of the gift pipeline.
- Conducting basic to complex research and analysis of current donors and prospects and successfully articulating biographical, financial and other relevant information into a comprehensive research profile to be used by University leadership and Development staff.
- Working collaboratively with senior leadership and gift officers to assist them in developing specific cultivation and solicitation strategies for donors and prospects.
- Creating concise and useful reports and tools to be utilized by the Development team to successfully measure actions, moves, and outcomes related to current donors and assigned prospects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
