The Big Ten Network is searching for a Director of Post-Production to join their team in Chicago. The Director has a critical role at the Big Ten Network leading and managing the B1G Network's post-production department, which edits content across multiple departments of the organization. The Director will lead a high performing team of fulltime and freelance editors to deliver outstanding content for Big Ten Network viewers. Additionally, this role will be responsible for editing the highest profile projects for B1G Network Originals with a focus on our documentary series, The B1G Story.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee B1G Network's post-production team at the highest level, including people management, staff assignments, and supporting the growth and development of your employees
  • Oversee the management, improvement, and implementation of post-production workflows
  • Oversee cloud storage including: managing media to the cloud, project file structure, and ensuring all cloud footage is mirrored on the local network storage for archival purposes
  • Manage B1G Network's freelance editing budget and hiring
  • Act as point of escalation for team when there are potential financial, creative, or deadline issues
  • Work in tandem with the Manager, Post-Production as well as other departments to ensure all edit needs across departments are met and scheduled
  • Work closely with the broadcast engineering team to troubleshoot technical issues as they arise
  • Edit, mix, and color correct the highest level B1G Network original programming projects including documentaries, long form storytelling, and opens for live events as needed
  • Be the point person on technical troubleshooting when post related issues arise

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • 5+ years of management experience in post-production
  • 5+ years of budget management experience
  • 10+ years of high-end feature/storytelling editing in sports
  • Experience with After Effects
  • Mastery in Adobe Premiere
  • Extensive experience mixing audio for broadcast, both in Adobe Premiere and with the use of audio sweetening software/plugins such as Adobe Audition and Izotope when necessary
  • Excellent understanding of video codecs and frame rates
  • Excellent attention to detail and outstanding organizational and project management skills are necessary
  • Excellent communications and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently as well as across multiple teams within the organization
  • High level multitasking skills with the ability to process edit notes quickly and efficiently
  • High level troubleshooting skills
  • Proven ability to build strong internal and external relationships as well as lead and motivate a team
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Applications
  • Interest and desire to learn about new post-production technologies and efficiencies, and ability to learn and master these new technologies quickly
  • Able to work workdays including nights, weekends, and holidays and travel for specific events

NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER

  • Strong color correction skills with experience in Davinci Resolve
  • Interest and desire to follow Big Ten sports - knowledge of teams, players, coaches, and traditions

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $140,000.00-150,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
