Starting Pay: $18.00

Job Objective:

As the Pathway of Hope Caseworker, you will implement the social service aspect of Pathway of Hope by utilizing strength-based case management, ensuring that the Mission of The Salvation Army is effectively carried out.

What You Will Do:



  • Distribute information regarding Pathway of Hope to interested stakeholders
  • Keep pamphlets and other promotional and information about the program updated
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with community agencies
  • Recruit and engage families interested in developing their level of sufficiency
  • Refer families to services designed to address identified goals
  • Complete all required documentation in SIMS (Salvation Army Information Management System) in an accurate and timely manner
  • Maintain client files in accordance with Pathway of Hope and Salvation Army guidelines
  • Meet with the Pathway of Hope Regional Coordinator and Social Services Manager on a regular basis and implement recommendations
  • Participate in Pathway of Hope cluster meetings and training opportunities
  • Complete divisional or territorial education forums and webinars as indicated by the Corps Officers, Social Services Manager, Social Services Director, and/or Divisional Social Services Director.
  • Other tasks as assigned by leadership



Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

Education: Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology or related field required

Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed and all background check results will be reviewed.

Experience: At least one year of casework experience preferred

Certifications: Must have a valid driver's license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver's qualification standard; must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 90 days of employment

Skills/Abilities:



  • Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and ability to learn electronic reporting systems
  • Basic level knowledge of Spanish is helpful
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.


Supervisory Responsibility: This position may supervise volunteers or interns working in a mentoring relationship with clients

Travel: Some local travel required

Working Conditions: Work is performed in a typical office environment. This position may require some weekend and evening work.
