Mott MacDonald is seeking an electrical engineering professional with senior level experience to join our team in Lexington, KY or West Monroe, LA. We are eager to welcome a candidate who can build client relationships, provide leadership and management of design staff and support our team in identifying and winning new opportunities.

Responsibilities:



  • Performing electrical and controls system engineering in the Oil and Gas Industry with special emphasis on Natural Gas Compression Systems. These systems include:

    • Electric Motor Driven Compressors
    • Gas Turbine Driven Compressors
    • Reciprocating Engine Driven Compressors


  • Development of the following:

    • scopes of work
    • engineer fees
    • design criteria packages
    • power distribution
    • power studies
    • arc flash studies
    • grounding plans
    • control system network architecture plans
    • PLC control engineering
    • Distributed Control Systems (DCS) engineering
    • Instrument selection and loop drawings.


  • Engineering field data collection
  • Engineering construction support
  • Engineer quality control reviews
  • Customer interface and the ability to develop and maintain customer relationships that lead to additional engineering work
  • Mentoring of lesser experienced engineers and designers



Candidate Specification:

We invite applications from candidates with the following experience:



  • A Bachelor's Degree in a relatable electrical engineering field, preferably a BSEE
  • Professional Engineering(PE) license/registration for Kentuckyor Louisiana
  • An NCEES Record would be considered a plus
  • Required Technical Experience:

    • Low and Medium Voltage Power Distribution Design
    • Power System Studies, Breaker Coordination, and Arc Flash Studies
    • CCTV and Security
    • PLC Based Instrumentation and Control System Design
    • Fiber Optic Cabling Designs
    • Networking
    • NEC Code Analysis
    • Electrical Construction Inspection
    • Electrical and Instrumentation Construction Cost Estimating
    • Ability to develop an electrical scope of work and list of deliverables


  • Required Code and Standard Knowledge: NEC, IESNA, NFPA 70E, IEEE Color Book Series
  • Required Software Capabilities: Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, SKM or ETAP, Computer Based Lighting Software
  • Other Requirements:

    * Travel: Ability to travel to remote project sites for multiple days and obtain electrical and instrumentation field data

    * Customer Interface: Experience in serving as a Project Manager on electrical engineering projects

    * Budgeting/Estimating: Experience in developing estimated engineering fees for electrical and instrumentation designs
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
