This is the fourth level of the non-Engineer degreed technical support role job classification and considered the career level for the job hierarchy. Senior Engineering Technologist provide technical expertise to solve complex problems, and leadership skills to manage work in a specific area of expertise, with minimal supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently with increased latitude for unreviewed work. Responsible for the health and oversight of site water treatment equipment and water chemistry. Schedules and performs oversight of chemical deliveries. Monitors equipment performance through test, analysis, and report variances. Performs calibrations of water chemistry analyzers and probes. Serves as the Operator in Responsible Charge and responsible for oversight of the station NPDES wastewater permit Responsible for use of the monthly reporting tool to compile unit cycle chemistry performance data. This will include:
Lead the discussion related to plant cycle chemistry performance during the monthly review meetings. Participate in meetings as required to ensure issues are identified, addressed and continual improvement is achieved. This may include leading some or all the monthly meeting (as determined in cooperation with the Cycle Chemistry SME). Participate in external meetings/training as needed to maintain continual improvement from a chemistry knowledge standpoint - i.e. staying up to date on current EPRI initiatives and programs. Continuously monitor the chemistry processes. Train staff to initiate immediate corrective action, upon identification of cycle chemistry parameter performance outside the requirements established in this procedure, these actions will include, but is not limited to: i Initiating corrective/analytical actions to identify and correct contributing factors. ii Seeking assistance from Cycle Chemistry SMEs Request the Cycle Chemistry SME to review proposed changes to plant specific cycle chemistry guideline procedures to ensure technical accuracy and fleet consistency. Maintain all inline analyzers and equipment for monitoring cycle chemistry performance, calibrate, and validated during unit operation. Monitor inline continuous cycle chemistry readings and adhere to corrective action sequence. Ensure water treatment related equipment is properly operated to prevent damaging events, contamination, corrosion, and deposition. Work closely with Plant Operations personnel to ensure chemistry procedures are followed during startup, shutdown, and normal operations. Provide contractor oversight at Dan River CC Responsibilities
