POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Major Responsibilities



  • The Flight Dispatch Specialist supports the Technical Information, Administrative, and Logistics Services (TIALS) Contract, at NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, OH.
  • Support the flight dispatch operations within the Logistics Area.
  • Provide general dispatch and operations assistance to the Aircraft Operations Office.
  • Maintain responsibility for critical navigation publications including sorting, updating, and ordering navigation publications, both electronic and hard copy.
  • Maintain control over VHF/UHF radios and communicate with airbore aircraft as required. Track aircraft via online tools (flight aware, RADAR24, etc.) as applicable. Coordinate with security for gate/ramp access when required by arriving aircraft.
  • Maintain and create electronic and hard copy flight operations records for scheduling of aircraft/aircrew and flight crew training and qualifications utilizing the NASA Aircraft Management Information System (NAMIS)
  • Schedule military restricted airspace, receive and route requests for visiting aircraft through the appropriate process.
  • Track flight time and flight time requirements for Center pilots. Track training requirements for pilots and mechanics.
  • Schedule special use and restricted airspace for Glenn and other users.
  • Assist the Aircraft Maintenance Manager in the tracking of maintenance products.
  • Provide travel preparation for the pilots and aircrew in Aircraft Operations to include International Travel Requests.
  • Track research aircraft when airborne.
  • Respond to requests for support of the Presidential and Vise Presidential visits to Northeastern Ohio, as required.
  • Serve as prime contact for safety and security issues at the hangar and on the first responders call sheet.
  • Serve as the POC for all transient aircraft at GRC, including the issuance of PPR approvals.
  • Schedule and attend, as required, Aircraft Operations Office planning, scheduling, training, and operational events and meeting spaces.



Other Duties and Responsibilities



  • Responsible for initiating disposal requests for noncontrolled property. For controlled property, assist the equipment owner in the request for disposal process.
  • Responsible for tracking and expediting disposal items until closure.
  • Responsible for requisitioning repetively used consumable items for storage and immediate distribution.
  • Assist with the annual aircraft spare parts inventory.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience: Two years air dispatch experience.
