This is a hybrid work opportunity that will mostly function remotely however occassional onsite reporting will be required so candidates must be local to the Richmond, VA area.
This is a unique role that will provide crucial data support to our Pediatric Infection Prevention team with VCU Health Children's Hospital of Richmond's expansion. The individual in this role will track surgical cases and identify if there are infections 30-90 days after operations for submission and also provide performance improvement coordination based on the collected infection prevention data. The Clinical Data Analyst collects, reports and analyzes data to be used for both internal and external purposes. This job's responsibilities include independent activities related to problem solving for issues in data flow, development and implementation of data modules as required and continuous evaluation of ongoing data elements for utility and quality through analysis and interpretation. This job also abstracts and organizes data obtained from concurrent and retrospective chart review of patient subset. Inputs data into relevant databases. The Clinical Data Analyst performs outcomes analysis, identifies trends, and initiates review. This role develops/generates outcome reports for dissemination to appropriate hospital leadership. This role assists in ensuring data integrity and harvest according to acceptable industry definitions/specifications. This role collaborates with providers to ensure validity of data. This role also acts as educational resource for other members of the team. Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: Current RN licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment: Current license in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required if incumbent holds a professional license. Experience REQUIRED: Minimum of three (3) years of relevant clinical experience Previous experience with extensive analytical work, database management, report generation and clinical data abstraction Previous experience using spreadsheet, word and database software applications at an advanced level. Experience PREFERRED: Previous experience in relevant clinical outcomes and benchmarking principles. Previous experience in an academic health care setting Previous experience in the management and development of large data systems, use and development of relational databases and management of projects involving multiple data sources and departments. Education/training REQUIRED: Graduate from an accredited RN nursing program; and If not Baccalaureate prepare, enrollment in an accredited Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing program within 24 months of date of hire Successful completion of a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing no later than 5 years (or 60 months) from date of hire. Education/training PREFERRED: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program Certification in specialty area Independent action(s) required: Responds to data inquiries in a timely fashion. Collaborates with other data coordinators within the health system to obtain and manipulate data as well as to engage in knowledge sharing.
