Responsibilities
Summary: The Utilization Management Coordinator provides non-clinical support for policies and procedures related to the administration of utilization management, ensuring the best and most appropriate treatment, care or services for our patients. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Utilization Management Coordinator contacts providers via phone or fax to request additional information or clarification as needed by the established process.
- Communicates effectively with providers/vendors/facilities, both internally and externally, regarding the status of authorization requests. Takes phone calls or answers emails from providers/facilities regarding claims inquiries.
- The Utilization Management Coordinator tracks inbound faxes for clinical documentation and attaches them to hospital tracking database.
- Works with inbound and outbound faxes to build or update authorizations.
- Liaison between insurance companies and providers.
- The Utilization Management Coordinator documents all call information according to standard operating procedures and attaches clinical information when necessary.
- Monitors Provider Network Management.
- The Utilization Management Coordinator collaborates with leadership on continuous process improvement by vocalizing frontline opportunities and suggestions for improvements.
- Ensures compliance with and/or adheres to Company HIPAA policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Associate's degree in a Healthcare related field.
- One (1) year of experience working in a health care setting.
- One (1) year of experience with and knowledge of ICD-10, HCPCS, and CPT codes.
- One (1) year of experience with Utilization Review and/or Prior Authorization, preferably within a managed care plan setting.
- Proficient utilizing electronic medical record and documentation programs.
- Experience working in Microsoft Office software applications, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Proficient and/or experience with medical terminology.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to change and pick up new skills quickly.
- Ability to navigate complex workflows while simultaneously working in multiple systems.
- An ability to quickly learn new systems and programs.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences.
