The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world's worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster. Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC is one of the world's largest international humanitarian non-governmental organizations (INGO), at work in more than 40 countries and 29 U.S. cities helping people to survive, reclaim control of their future and strengthen their communities. A force for humanity, IRC employees deliver lasting impact by restoring safety, dignity and hope to millions. If you're a solutions-driven, passionate change-maker, come join us in positively impacting the lives of millions of people world-wide for a better future. The intern will play a crucial role in supporting the ESL teacher in a flexible capacity, assisting in either the Introduction to English, Beginner, or High Intermediate classes. Classes have different schedules and modes of presentation (in-person or hybrid), providing the intern with a diverse range of experiences. The intern will also be instrumental in supporting tutoring sessions outside of class hours. The classes aim to empower students by gaining the language needed to navigate everyday life in the US and empower students. Using engaging and student-centered lessons, the intern will help with administrative tasks, lead activities, provide support in conversation practice, tutor, and substitute. Finally, the intern will be a key collaborator with members of the Adult Education team to ensure clients' immediate educational needs are met. RESPONSIBILITIES:
