Position Overview: As a Management Analyst II in our department, you will play a pivotal role in planning, analyzing, and enhancing the budgetary procedures that underpin our mission. Working closely with the Police administrative team, you will be instrumental in aligning our fiscal resources with our commitment to providing outstanding service to the community. Ideal candidate will have accounts payable experience, the ability to work independently, and have a strong attention to detail.
The job title of Management Analyst II exists in several departments throughout the City. This particular appointment will be in the New Haven Police Department; other opportunities in other departments may arise. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS This is complex fiscal management and administrative work planning, analyzing, and evaluating the current and long range budgetary requirements and procedures of the City.
Work involves responsibility for the administration of budgetary activities and for carrying out a wide variety of assignments calling for analytical thinking. These assignments are performed in accordance with regulatory, statutory or charter requirements. Work is carried out under the direction of the department supervisor with latitude for professional and administrative judgement and initiative in planning and implementing the activities of the budget operation. EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university, supplemented by graduate course work in municipal finance, business administration, public administration, or law; at least two years of experience in budget, public administration and municipal finance work, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:

SALARY, BARGAINING UNIT & TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT This is a General Fund, "Tested" position. This position is included in a collective bargaining agreement with Local 3144, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees. Bargaining agreements available to review HERE. General Funded hires into this class are not covered by Social Security and will not pay Social Security taxes. They instead participate in the City Pension; the employee contribution rate is 10% of pay. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of: (1) a pre-employment background check, (2) a pre-employment physical examination, including pre-employment drug screening accordance with the City's Drug Free Workplace Policy*, and (3) a 90-day probationary period.
