Position Title: Maintenance Worker

Location: Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD), Panama City, FL

Job Summary: We are seeking skilled individuals for the position of Facilities General Maintenance Worker at NSWC PCD to support various semi-skilled labor activities. This role involves performing maintenance tasks across approximately 85 buildings and 50 smaller structures, ensuring facilities are maintained to support NSWC PCD's mission.

Responsibilities:

• Furniture Management: Transport, install, and reconfigure office furniture systems and standalone pieces; stow and retrieve items as needed for space reallocation or moves.
• General Maintenance:
  
  
  
  • Replace damaged ceiling tiles, insulation, and faceplates.
  • Change water fountain filters and hang or mount whiteboards and video display wall brackets.
  • Perform minor painting tasks, including preparing surfaces and applying paint, up to 1000 square feet per job.
  • Install, repair, and finish drywall; repair holes in wallboard; glue loose stair treads.
  • Pressure wash exterior walkways and building exteriors in line with environmental standards.
  • Adjust and maintain doors, door closers, and automatic door openers.
  • Clean up after water intrusion events, close tripped breakers, clean air vents/diffusers, and replace malfunctioning toilet components, faucets, and sink lines.
  • Unclog sinks, toilets, and drains; secure racks to floors with anchor bolts; tint and re-caulk windows.
  • Replace small sections of damaged flooring tiles (carpet tiles, luxury vinyl planks, epoxy) excluding asbestos abatement.
  • Install computer flooring, cove base, baseboards, window treatments, and luxury vinyl plank flooring according to manufacturer standards.
  
  
  
  
• Safety and Compliance:
  
  
  
  • Operate mobile equipment like Government-owned pickup trucks, forklifts, and small electric or gas vehicles, ensuring all operators are licensed per Florida state laws.
  • Perform work in compliance with safety regulations, including OSHA standards for ladder use.
  
  
  
  
• Event Support: Transport, set up, take down, and store furniture and decorations for official NSWC PCD events.
• Inventory and Logistics:
  
  
  
  • Conduct physical inventories of Government-owned furniture and materials, documenting types, characteristics, condition, quantity, and location.
  • Deliver supplies such as printer and copier paper across NSWC PCD buildings.
  
  
  
  
• Emergency Preparedness: During conditions of readiness set by the Government, undertake tasks like filling and placing sandbags, securing facilities against destructive weather.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in maintenance or related field is advantageous.
• Experience in general maintenance or facilities management, with a minimum of 2 years preferred.
• Basic proficiency with tools and equipment used in maintenance work.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow safety protocols and maintenance manuals.
• Valid driver's license; must be able to obtain necessary certifications for operating specific equipment (e.g., forklift).

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with Navy or DoD facility maintenance standards.
• Knowledge of or experience with environmental compliance related to facility maintenance.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in inventory management.
