Department:PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT Organizational Unit:Central Area Parks Operations (50000052)

Position Type:Permanent Full Time/Part Time:Full Time

Open Until Filled.

$22.05 to $24.26 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Central Area. Work schedule is variable and includes evenings, weekends, and holidays. Performs skilled service work in pest management, cultural practices, and maintenance aspects of sports fields and multiple park landscapes. The employee coordinates with area and site supervisors in all phases of best management practices and provides support for irrigation management.

REQUIREMENTS: One (1) year certificate from a college or technical school in turfgrass management or comparable field of studyPLUStwo (2) years of experience in turfgrass management or related areaORthree (3) years progressively responsible experience and/or training in turfgrass management and landscape operations. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.SPECIAL REQUIRMENTS:Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must possess, or obtain within six (6) months of employment, the Florida Ornamental and Turf Pesticide Applicator license, issued from the Florida Department of Agricultural and Consumer Services. Must possess, or obtain within nine (9) months of employment, the Florida Aquatic Pesticide Applicator license, issued from the Florida Department of Agricultural and Consumer Services. The applicant will be disqualified from further consideration for the position if a Level I background criminal background investigation, performed in accordance with Brevard County Administrative Order 5 (AO-5), discloses the applicant has disqualifying convictions (as defined in AO-5). In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster which may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
