Summary: A+E Networks seeks a versatile, nimble Editor to line edit and sometimes assign stories about history and crime for its websites, primarily History.com. Stories may range from features; quick-hit news-related pieces; and encyclopedic articles. The expectations are to work quickly, accurately and creatively to make stories come alive. This role reports to a Senior Editor.

  • Edit stories to improve narrative and precision
  • Ensure a compelling story structure that puts the reader first
  • Build stories in the CMS, deciding what related content will create a strong on-page experience
  • Ensure discoverability, eg SEO and sharable headlines
  • Work with Writers to develop ideas
  • Assist or build newsletters and social posts

YOUR STORY: (what you need to have) Editor, History.com

  • BA/BS degree required
  • Minimum five years editing experience at an authoritative website, preferably with daily deadlines
  • Proficiency with a CMS
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated track record of teamwork and collaboration; lone wolves need not apply
  • Strong portfolio of relevant work
  • Deep understanding of journalistic standards and practices, including knowledge of how to assess the credibility and reliability of sources
  • Interest in history, crime, and popular culture
CompensationHourly Pay Range: $38.99 - $44.83 Annual Incentive Target: 5%

be based ona number of differentfactors such asa candidate's qualifications, skills,
