Waster Water Technician

Shift: 12:00 am - 8:00 am

Monday - Friday, Weekends if scheduled

Summary To safely and efficiently operate the EMI wastewater treatment facility by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Completes routine wastewater analytical tests daily for reference in making decisions for process control.

Performs general cleaning around the facility.

Prepares wastewater treatment chemical mixes used in the treatment process.

Monitors numerous parameters of chemical, physical/mechanical and biological nature that are required to operate the facility.

Performs general maintenance on equipment.

Works independent of on-site supervision but will know the limits of his/her responsibilities and will consistently contact supervisory staff for counsel in situations that exceed those limits.

Pursues continued professional development in the area of wastewater treatment by participating in training programs afforded by the Company in order to accept and fulfill more advanced responsibilities in this area for the Company.

Responsible for the Wastewater Treatment Facility on the weekends.

Required to carry a pager when on duty.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Work experience in wastewater treatment or a related area of employment desirable but not required.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak and write in English.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to pass the Wastewater Treatment Operator Math Test.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with operational problems involving one or more variables.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

A license as a wastewater treatment operator desirable but not required. Must be able to obtain and hold an Industrial Wastewater license within the first year of employment. Must have a current drivers license. Must be able to obtain a forklift license.
