Overview

Waters Corporation is currently seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Automation Engineer to support our newly completed Precision Manufacturing Facility in Taunton, MA. In this critical role you will support the advancement and maintenance of the Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Process Control System (PCS), associated PLCs, hardware, instrumentation, networking, and interfaces.

The successful candidate will partner with Engineering, Production, Facilities, and Quality Assurance to ensure delivery of our high-quality products. The products manufactured at this site are essential for the development and quality testing of vaccines and medicines and for the purity of food and water for millions of people across the globe.



Responsibilities

    Utilize the MES and PCS platform software to support the ongoing manufacturing processes and new equipment/product introductions.
  • Design and modify electronic batch records based on chemistry, process, and equipment requirements.
  • Collaborate with Process Engineers, Production supervisors, and QA specialists to implement system upgrades, new features, corrective actions, and other continuous improvement initiatives across the site's automation/data systems.
  • Employ industry standards such as ISA S-88, S-95, IEC 61131, cGMP, and ISO 9001:2015 to design, configure, test, and maintain the MES and PCS continuous and batch systems.
  • Develop and improve work instructions (WI), standard operating procedures (SOP), guidance, and standards for automation-owned programs.
  • Rotate on call support to assist with Production's M-F manufacturing schedule as well as weekend maintenance activities as required.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in chemical engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related engineering field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in Automation in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs), automation code, electrical schematics, and loop drawings.
  • Experience with MES/DCS/SCADA/PLC programming and configuration, in particular with Korber Pas-X, AVEVA System Platform (Wonderware), AVEVA Intouch OMI, AVEVA Batch Management, Rockwell Studio5000 and FactoryTalk View.
  • Experience with batch and continuous manufacturing operations in the chemical industry is a plus.
