Job Description

Operating Room Scheduler:
1. Prioritize tasks, manage time well, and handle information flow.
2. Manage OR Scheduling requests via designated email boxes.
3. Forward OR scheduling requests from email boxes to Central Registration and Preadmission Testing Department.
4. Enter each surgical scheduling request and pertinent information into the electronic surgical scheduling system accurately, following approved Surgical Block Schedule when applicable.
5. Properly manage confidential and sensitive information.
6. Send scripted emails to physician/office designee and Management Team when procedural requests are outside of or over designated block times.
7. Check, receive and respond to messages received in OR services voice mail box.
8. Check for voice mail messages, immediately upon arrival in AM and place any add-on cases on OR schedule.
9. As requested by Nurse Manager/designee, contact others via a telephone/email and deliver intended message accurately.
10. Answer incoming telephone calls in a courteous manner.
11. Receive and deliver messages to/from other hospital departments effectively to appropriate team members.
12. Update daily OR schedule and notify appropriate personnel of add-ons as they occur.
13. Prints OR schedules for next day. Distribute schedules to designated areas via hospital email, fax or hand delivery.
14. Notify outside vendors of need for requested equipment/supplies as directed by Nurse Manager/designee.
15. Order medical supplies, hospital forms and office supplies.
16. Assists with room preparation and transporting of patients as needed.
