Controller/CFO

REPORTS TO: CEO/General Manager STATUS: Exempt

SALARY RANGE: $180,000 - $250,000

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

Directs the financial, tax, stocks, investments, payroll, and insurance activities of the company, provides budgeting and forecasting leadership, promotes and supports efficiencies, growth, and overall performance improvement through process improvement, integration of technology, and the analysis and sharing of financial and operational performance data with other team members and stakeholders, serves as the benefits administrator for all company benefit programs, while working closely with the leaders of other departments and the General Manager, utilizes managerial-accounting tools and information to identify and recommend opportunities for improved profitability, operational effectiveness, and operational efficiencies and then provides appropriate performance tracking to ensure objectives are met.

SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP

Supervises, leads, and develops accounting employees. Provides leadership, training, and support to other team members that lead and supervise administrative employees or others that perform accounting related duties.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Provides direction, controls, and makes recommendations to management about the financial, audit preparation, tax, stocks, investment, payroll, and insurance activities of the company.

Prepares financial reports and budgets, with appropriate collaboration with department leaders, which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.

Ensures that all preparations are completed in advance of the audit function at the end of each fiscal year to provide management with future projections and save audit time and expense.

Champions data and information management initiatives to ensure accurate information and ease of access to assist in management decision making. Promotes and supports efficiencies, growth, and overall performance improvement through process improvement, integration of technology, and the analysis and sharing of financial and operational performance data with other team members and stakeholders.

Develops and implements location accounting processes to produce monthly statements and other managerial accounting data and associated analysis for each location.

Develops and implements tax strategies, planning, and compliance for all federal, state, and local taxes.

Provides leadership to the management of company stock and other company investments.

Evaluates and implements process improvements to streamline accounting and inventory standard operating processes.

Collaborating closely with the leaders of other departments and the General Manager utilizes managerial-accounting tools and information to identify and recommend opportunities for improved profitability,

operational effectiveness, and operational efficiencies and then provides appropriate performance tracking to ensure objectives are met.

Oversees the payroll function.

Advises management about insurance coverage, property losses and liability coverage.

Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies. Delegates authority for receipt, disbursement, banking, protection and custody of funds, securities, and financial instruments.

Evaluates the need for procurement of funds and investment of surplus. Advises management on investments and loans.

Analyzes and organizes office operations and procedures for all accounting, payroll functions.

Assesses business opportunities, negotiate agreements, and build and strengthen partnerships.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Follows Conserv FS's Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Normally requires a Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and at least 6 years of experience in accounting or finance or related areas to demonstrate financial leadership in the areas of risk analysis, cost/benefit analysis, internal controls, auditing, and budgeting.

Strong managerial-accounting skills, communication skills, and technology implementation skills are preferred.

A CPA and/or MBA are preferred.

Prefer an understanding of GROWMARK System financing, operations and taxation.

Prefer an understanding of the Agvance system.

Demonstrated essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record. Must be able to travel independently and overnight.

Must be able to work hours beyond those considered normal.

Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on Conserv FS's policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.

Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. In addition to base pay, certain roles may be eligible for bonuses, incentives, and commissions.
