PREMEDIA Rebind Specialist

This position is responsible for receiving, scanning, file manipulation and layout of pre-designed covers being converted to a library bind format. The PreMedia Specialist follows all housekeeping and safety standards of Baker & Taylor Publisher Services (BTPS).

• Scanning of pre-designed book covers
• Create additional design elements to extend the size of the current cover file
• Determine cover layout specifications, accounting for joint location and excess wrap
• Create additional design elements, based on current design, to extend the size of front and back covers, as well as the spine, to meet library bind specs
• Work with various graphic design and layout software applications commonly used on Mac's and PC's.
• Maintain proficiency with software, as well as any PreMedia process updates.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Ability to interact in a professional manner with team members in person, by phone, and by written correspondence.
• Ability to problem solve with minimum supervision.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office and graphic design software. Thorough knowledge of Acrobat, Photoshop and Indesign required.
• Must possess solid reading and comprehension skills and have attention to detail.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to use both Mac and PC equipment.

• Prior experience in Graphic Design or Print prepress is preferred.
