Job Description:

Location: We support US flexible working arrangements in the contiguous 48 states, however for this role the requirement is to be local to either Kansas City, MO or Milwaukee, WI.

The opportunity

As the AVP, Print & Mail Operations, you will have accountability for developing and executing on a multi-year Group Benefits and Commercial Dental print and mail operations strategy, with emphasis on aligning all our efforts. This position is responsible for setting and implementing strategic direction in partnership with other functional areas to optimize our mail, print, intake and scanning operations with a focus on cost savings, digitization, and operational efficiency.

This requires a strong understanding of best practices and evolving technology in print, mail, and continue to influence and deliver optimal financial outcomes.To think and act like a digital business we have to challenge ourselves, revise some of our long-standing business processes, and find new ways of working to drive innovation and build and implement at a faster pace and at greater scale across our evolving real estate footprint. The ability to build and leverage strong partnerships across all levels and functions within Sun Life is imperative to success. Additionally, this role is required to participate in the development of key strategic relationships external to Sun Life such as: vendors, internal and external stakeholders.

How you will contribute:

You will leverage your leadership, analytical, technical, project management, and communication skills to achieve an efficient operating model which will enable our employees to serve our Clients in an effortless experience. This role is key in Sun Life's journey of building the best benefits company in America:

  • Set strategic direction and execute on a multi-site strategy for Sun Life & DentaQuest's mail, print, scanning and intake operations

  • Effectively communicate the big picture vision and how it translates to smaller projects and day-to-day decisions and responsibilities, leveraging key metrics, roadmaps

  • Regularly interact with senior leadership, business stakeholders, and Clients and influence business solutions and strategy cross-functional members from IT, print operations, mailroom, and other relevant departments

  • Identify best practices and philosophies and lead organizational change as it relates to best-in-class digital print and mail solutions

  • Leading organizational change and fostering a continuous improvement mindset, responsible for Post-Implementation Reviews to evaluate the success of the integration project, gather feedback, and identify areas for further improvement

  • Create and foster a team environment that encourages others to be bold and deliver innovative solutions

  • Bring a client first and risk management mindset to ensure Protection of PHI is carefully managed and conducting continuous Risk Assessments to Identify potential risks and challenges related to the integration project and develop mitigation strategies

  • Encourage high standards of performance and inspire others to define new opportunities that continuously improve the organization

  • Leadership and management of the Print and Mail Department, to include manager and staff development and recognition, as well as creating a mindset within this shared service organization that demonstrates excellent collaboration

  • Develop Operational and Financial metrics for the Print and Mail (Objectives, Key Results), with focus on ensuring cost-effective utilization of resources throughout the project lifecycle

  • Ensure production metrics are developed and meeting needs of state and health plan requirements and turnaround times

  • Develop and understanding of contractual requirements the teams must meet in order to be compliant with government contacts

  • Support efforts to control expenses through strong planning, innovation, efficient allocation of resources and flexibility

  • Introducing and implementing enhanced digital tools and more efficient procedures; Assessing and recommending the adoption of new technologies and software solutions that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of print and mail processes, vendors and collaborating with procurement teams to select and negotiate contracts with vendors or service providers for equipment, software, or services related to print and mail integration

  • Conduct workflow Analysis for current print, mail, intake and scanning workflows to identify opportunities for optimization, automation, and process improvements

  • Ensure that the project aligns with legal and regulatory requirements, including data privacy, security, and industry-specific standards

  • establish quality control measures to monitor the accuracy and reliability of print and mail communications throughout the project

  • Change Management: Develop and execute change management strategies to facilitate the training and adoption of integrated print and mail processes across the organization

  • Maintain detailed records of project activities, milestones, and outcomes for reporting and future reference

What you will bring with you:

  • This is a senior leadership position that requires strong product management expertise, leadership skills, and a strategic mindset

  • 10+ years of experience working in the Print and Mail operations

  • Experience leading people, driving change and creating a high-performance culture

  • Bachelor's degree preferred and/or equivalent years of experience in operations, project management

  • Strong relationship management and analytical skills

  • Strong influencing skills and experience to develop and maintain effective internal and external business relationships

  • Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills and experience

  • Experience effectively managing staff, including remote team members; strong knowledge and experience in human resources policies and practices, performance development and management

  • Demonstrated ability to establish excellent team-oriented interpersonal working relationships

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a deadline-oriented environment with multiple priorities

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Leadership skills with ability and experience to develop and assess strategic broad plans as well as more specific tasks and functions

  • Proven success leading organizational change

  • A working understanding of the many functions required for successful partnership with internal parties, including records, claims, legal and compliance

  • Technical requirements: Kofax, P&R Imaging and Shapegrabber, Pitney Bowes mailing equipment

Salary Range: $150,800 - $241,300

Your actual base salary will be determined based on your unique skills, qualifications, experience, education, and geographic location. In addition to your base salary, this position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive award based on your individual performance as well as the overall performance of the business.
