Summary:

The Charge Auditor Non Clinical performs the primary functions of coordinating the process of capturing observation charges and other direct care/nursing department charges. The Charge Auditor oversees the documentation and billing of the observation patients to ensure compliance with all standards and guidelines as set forth. The Charge Auditor adheres to the philosophy of CHRISTUS, showing concern and the spirit of teamwork to visitors, patients, and fellow associates.

Responsibilities:


  • Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
  • Responsible for performing all functions to accomplish the abstracting of patient and procedure information to provide correct billing information.
  • Reviews surgical records within one business day of surgery date to identify opportunities for documentation by nursing and other clinical personnel.
  • Ensures timely entering of surgical charges.
  • Develops and implement plans for both formal and informal education of nursing and other clinical associates regarding documentation and related observation charging and billing.
  • Participates in charge audits and reviews as necessary. (i.e., RAC audit, Patient requested audit, etc.).
  • HealthStream (HLC) modules completed by the assigned date.
  • Maintain licensure or certification without lapse.
  • Maintain BCLS/ACLS certification, if required for the Job.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills


  • High school diploma preferred


Experience


  • 2 years of experience in Surgical Services setting preferred


Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications


  • None required
