About the Role: From rapid response and performance improvement to operational efficiency and life-cycle management, Service is one of our fastest-growing areas. You will be the provider of technical support for Transformer Service, part of the US Transformer HUB. Reporting to the Field Operation Manager - Data Center, your hands-on experience and knowledge of customer needs will help you not only to build strong customer relationships, but also to identify new business opportunities. Responsibilities:
- Delivering outstanding and professional service, remotely or on-site, in key categories, e.g. installation and commissioning, maintenance, repairs, advanced services, extensions, upgrades and retrofits, end-of-life services and replacements of transformers and digital transformer services.
- Installation of Transformer Hardware, Sensor, and Accessories
- Physical Communication connectivity, Communication Configuration, Communication Testing, and validation
- Installation of Transformer Software, Configuration of Transformer Software, License Initialization, Firmware Upgrades, Hardware and Software integration Testing
- Act as the onsite point of contact for the customer and subcontractors during project execution
- Strategically assign tasks to crew members in order to minimize cost and project duration considering crew skillsets, site conditions, weather forecasts, etc.
- Testing of SEL relays at set point using Omicron relay test set or equivalent
- Using common industrial communication protocols (Modbus, BACnet etc.)
- Proactively identify and report project nonconformances to Project Management and Engineering for timely resolution
- Perform electrical testing of transformers and reactors including but not limited to bushing power factor & capacitance, core megger, CT ratio & polarity, TTR, winding resistance, insulation power factor, insulation resistance, excitation, SFRA, and control cabinet functional checks
- Provide input and expertise during the project-planning phase regarding project schedule and manpower requirements
- Practice and promote a safety-first approach; always maintain compliance with all Hitachi Energy and customer EHS requirements
- Train other technicians to perform field service activities
- Have a strong understanding of the theory of operation and construction of transformers, current transformers, bushings, etc.
Requirements:
- Associate Degree and 3 years of professional work experience or High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of professional work experience
- Must have a valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 85%
- Physical fitness for duty
- Demonstrated ability to efficiently use Microsoft Office tools for various tasks and projects.
- Background in the related field work at data centers is a plus.
