About the Role:

Hitachi Energy in Alamo, TN is seeking a Quality Engineer to join its team. In this role you will conduct routine and non-routine analyses of in-process materials, raw materials, environmental samples, finished goods, or stability samples. This role will also be responsible for defining and developing quality assurance programs to ensure conformance to codes and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Assume major responsibility for the preparation of quality assurance economic studies, specifications, purchase related documents, technical reports, proposals, licensing, safety and related documents
  • Coordinate quality initiatives and perform internal audits and assist customers in performing other quality assurance activities
  • Review purchase orders and specifications for proper quality requirements
  • Provide technical advice in specialized quality assurance technology such as nondestructive testing, metrology, statistical techniques, fabrication techniques, quality codes and regulations
  • Participate in the investigation of technical problems and the establishment of procedures and corrective actions to avoid recurrences
  • Develop or evaluate quality programs, measure quality activities and coordinate quality functions
  • Recommend and implement measures to improve effectiveness of quality operations and to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Identify and troubleshoot equipment problems
  • Monitor testing procedures to ensure that all tests are performed according to established item specifications, standard test methods, or protocols
  • Develop and qualify new testing methods
  • Review and update standard operating procedures or quality assurance manuals
  • Verify that raw materials, purchased parts or components, in-process samples, and finished products meet established testing and inspection standards
  • Direct the tracking of defects, test results, or other regularly reported quality control data
  • Ability to read and interpret assemble and component drawings and engineering specifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field and 1 to 3 years of experience
  • Root cause analysis experience preferred
  • CAD Data Analysis (measurement & manipulation)
  • Basic knowledge of operating measurement equipment (CMM)
  • Lean manufacturing knowledge a plus
