The Nuclear Medicine Technologist oversees technical procedures, patient care and work flow in Nuclear Medicine area to ensure safe and effective patient care. Performs diagnostic studies and assists with therapeutic administrations utilizing radiopharmaceuticals and imaging equipment in accordance with Carle policies and procedures and IEMA Department of Nuclear Safety regulations. Responsible for initial and annual training and competencies.


Qualifications

License/Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA); Registered in Nuclear Medicine Technology (N) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT); Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) - Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB); Licensed Radiologic Technologist - Nuclear Medicine - Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA)

Education:
Certificate of Completion: Radiologic Technology; College Diploma: Related Field

Responsibilities

Performs all essential functions of the Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
Serves as a technical resource and subject matter expert for staff, management, and physicians in Nuclear Medicine/PET.
Oversees the patient schedule and workflow to maximum efficiency as established by department benchmarking. Coordinates staff coverage during unexpected high exam volumes as well as minimizing staff in times of low volumes.
Performs or has input in staff scheduling and timecard edits based on the department guidelines.
Participates in QA/QC programs. Directs personnel in maintaining standards set out by accrediting bodies, licensures and safety guidelines.
Participates in scheduling of department's technical equipment service and/or maintenance.
Develops training programs and evaluates technical skills of staff. Responsible for ensuring staff has completed new employee and annual employee competencies.
Recommends to the coordinator/manager/director personnel actions for hires, promotions, transfers, discharges, performance evaluations, and disciplinary measures of staff.
Participates in submitting information and imaging for accreditation following department guidelines for accreditation processing. Responsible for reporting timely updates to one up on progress.
Aids in the annual review and periodic updates of department policies and protocols.
Performs on call duties and/or work variable shifts as assigned to meet department needs.
Performs coaching with staff and documents conversations. Performs record of conversation and progressive discipline at the direction of their one up.
Performs all essential functions of the Nuclear Medicine Technologist. Collaborate with technical staff in organizing and directing the sections work flow. Develops training programs, evaluates technical skills of staff, and assists in scheduling staff as appropriate to meet patient demands. Meets productivity levels as established by department benchmarking. Assists other areas during downtimes so to maintain productivity. Participates in QA/QC programs. Directs personnel in following quality control procedures. Achieved section and departmental quality standards to maintain DNV and OSHA compliance, and any other regulations specific to the section. Assist with solving daily issues, such as equipment problems, staff assignments, and physician questions.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $32.39per hour - $55.71per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
