To be part of our organization, every employee should understand and share in the YNHHS Vision, support our Mission, and live our Values. These values - integrity, patient-centered, respect, accountability, and compassion - must guide what we do, as individuals and professionals, every day.

Yale New Haven Health?s strategic objectives and mission emphasize patient service, teaching research and community service. As a leading health care system, YNHHS must demonstrate superior quality outcomes, provide seamless delivery of care, and maintain competitive cost structures.
Acting under the general direction of the Executive Director of Nursing Professional Practice, the Director of Nursing Education provides direction and oversight to two significant nursing education functions: the orientation of newly hired nursing staff and the education of nurses that occurs within the specialty divisions. Within the orientation function, the Director directs the program to ensure initial competency development and regulatory requirements are met. After the orientation program, the Director directs the specialty education program where nurses develop ongoing competencies and receive ongoing training and education consistent with organizational priorities. Together, the Director integrates the programs of orientation and specialty education into a seamless, continuous nursing education program. This program ensures that nurses at all levels of professional development (such as from novice to expert) receive high quality, evidence-based, engaging education programs. The Director is responsible for translating the conduction of these programs into qualified outcomes within the nursing division. In partnership with the Chief Nursing Officers, nurse executives, and other key stakeholders, this position is responsible for the evaluation of the nursing education program from all perspectives, including but not limited to quality of education, improvement in patient care outcomes, cost effectiveness, use of technology, among other aspects relevant to the evaluation.
