THE POSITION

If so, the Schuylkill County Office of Senior Services, your local Area Agency on Aging, would like to talk to you!



DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will receive and investigate reports of neglect and abuse of older adults. This includes petitioning courts for intervention, testifying in court, and performing intensive care management duties for individuals in high-risk situations. Your responsibilities will also involve exercising independent judgment in achieving objectives and documenting all actions in the State database(s) within required time frames while paying close attention to detail without receiving close supervision.

You will be expected to maintain a caseload of consumers and regularly coordinate services with physicians, community agencies, financial institutions, hospitals, nursing homes, personal care homes, and other supportive services in responding to client emergencies. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position also works on-call hours when required, after training.
  • Some out of county overnight travel may be required.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Aging Care Manager 2 or Aging Program Assessor; or
  • One and one-half years of professional human services, law enforcement, or nursing experience; and a bachelor's degree in social sciences, behavioral sciences, human services, or a closely related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes six months of professional human services, law enforcement, or nursing experience.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Schuylkill County. If no eligible candidates who live within Schuylkill County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
