The Center on Gender Equity and Health seeks a full-time Global Health Research Project Manager to support global projects focused on gender norms research and practice, and monitoring and evaluation of a Uganda-based intervention. The Project Manager will be primarily responsible for coordinating critical management functions and project communications, and will also contribute to research activities and technical outputs. The Center on Gender Equity and Health (GEH) in an interdisciplinary research group within the Division of Infectious Diseases and Global Public Health at the University of California San Diego. GEH's interdisciplinary team conducts innovative global public health research and provides academic training on gender inequities, gender-based violence, sexual and reproductive health, and women's economic opportunity. GEH's work aims to change gender-based behaviors and social norms that compromise health and safety and limit opportunity for individuals of all genders globally. Our team works in South Asia, East and West Africa, and the United States in partnership with international and local NGOs and with engagement from local and national. Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI: Dr. Kathryn M. Barker), the Research Project Manager will support critical management functions and technical inputs to two Gender and Development global health projects: REAL Fathers and Gender LEAD. 1) The REAL Fathers project is a community-based intervention in Uganda for young fathers and their wives with children below the age of 3. UCSD leads the research arm of the global REAL Fathers Consortium-a partnership between multiple Uganda-based organizations and UCSD-GEH. REAL Fathers aims to shift harmful gender norms that limit fathers' engagement with their children and contribute to violence against women and children (funder: LEGO Foundation). 2) The Gender LEAD project works with global teams to promote the careful integration of gender into multi-sectoral efforts in international development-including but not limited to education, health, economic, and political sectors. The UCSD team focuses specifically on providing technical expertise on the role of gender and social norms in the project's aims (funder: US Agency for International Development). The Research Project Manager will maintain ongoing direct communication with the PI, other UCSD faculty, multi-country research partners, consultants, and donors to ensure adherence to project workplans, quality of deliverables, and effective coordination and communication. They will be responsible for monitoring project deliverables, tracking timelines, and preparing grant progress reports. This will include responsibility for setting and running meetings, documenting decisions, and tracking progress. The Research Project Manager will also be responsible for tracking and supporting the contracting process (in coordination with other UCSD teams) and tracking consultant deliverables and payments. In addition to these management activities, the Research Project Manager will contribute to technical deliverables as identified based on the applicant's skillset and career development trajectory. Technical contributions may include any of the following: supporting development of survey items and monitoring tools and associated indicators; quantitative data wrangling and analysis; qualitative data coding and analysis; literature review and synthesis; development of reports and briefs to communicate findings to general audiences; drafting of language for academic peer-reviewed articles. This position may require local, national and/or international travel for conferences and/or meetings with study partners for the purposes of planning, collaboration and/or dissemination. Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $69,500 - $123,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $33.29 - $59.15 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable). |
