THE POSITION

An exciting opportunity is open for you to serve as a Network Administrator 2 in the Commonwealth Enterprise Technology Services Office on the Core Networking Team!

We are seeking a strong and highly motivated IT network professional to join our Core Networking Team in providing high quality customer service to Commonwealth Agencies, Business Partners, and other stakeholders while supporting critical network services.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Commonwealth network systems, including local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), as well as data center and cloud infrastructure. This involves ensuring the efficient and secure operation of the network infrastructure that supports business operations, while collaborating with other IT professionals, such as system administrators, security analysts, and software engineers, to maintain optimal network performance and security.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time, working in the office one day per month. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Network Administrator 1, Telecommunications Administrator, or Radio Telecommunications Supervisor; or
  • Six years of information technology experience that includes three years of technical experience in network operation or network maintenance involving installing, updating, and maintaining inter-network systems and managing information technology projects; or
  • Four years of information technology experience that includes three years of technical experience in network operation or network maintenance involving installing, updating, and maintaining inter-network systems and managing information technology projects, and an associate's degree in any information technology field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes three years of technical experience in network operation or network maintenance involving installing, updating, and maintaining inter-network systems and managing information technology projects.

Other Requirements:

  • This particular position also requires:
    • Two or more years of full-time experience configuring and managing routers, switches, and other network devices.
    • Two or more years of full-time experience working with network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, etc.).
    • Two or more years of full-time experience with data center networking and interconnecting distributed networks.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
