Organizational Unit Overview
ECU is an emerging national research university with an enrollment of nearly 27,000 students. The University offers 87 bachelor's degree programs, 69 master's degree programs, 13 doctoral degree programs, and 89 departmental certificates. The University is comprised of 10 academic colleges/schools including a medical and dental school. The University is located in Greenville, N.C., a progressive city of approximately 90,000. It is within two hours driving distance of the Atlantic Coast to the east and the Research Triangle area of Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill to the west.

The College of Health and Human Performance is home to eight academic units (https://hhp.ecu.edu/academic_programs/). There are excellent opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations within the College and across the University. The College employs three full-time instructional technology consultants, a research development director, and pre- and post-award grant specialists.

The Department of Kinesiology is one of six academic units in the College of Health and Human Performance offering five-degree programs: BS in Exercise Physiology, BS in Physical Education, MAEd in Physical Education, MS in Kinesiology and a Ph.D. in Bioenergetics and Exercise Science, and a minor in Strength and Conditioning. There are over 1200 majors and 30 full-time faculty. Our internationally known faculty are collaborative, interdisciplinary, and successful in innovative teaching approaches and research that receives external funding. They enthusiastically engage our students in and out of the classroom through interactive lectures, research collaboration, community service projects, as well as other activities. Our distinct research labs support our academic programs as well as provide opportunities for faculty and student scholarship. Faculty and students research fields related to Exercise Physiology, Physical Activity Promotion, Biomechanics, Motor Control, Adapted Physical Activity, Exercise and Sport Psychology, and Pedagogy.
Job Duties
The Department of Kinesiology within the College of Health and Human Performance at East Carolina University seeks candidates for a nine-month tenure track position at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank beginning August 2025. The successful candidate is expected to: teach biomechanics or other closely related courses in alignment with departmental needs and to develop/further enhance a nationally recognized research program evidenced by a strong record of impactful publications and external funding. The successful candidate will complement the current department's research strengths. Additional responsibilities include providing service to the university, community, and profession along with directing doctoral and master's research projects.

Minimum Education/Experience
PhD in Kinesiology (or closely related field including but not limited to: Exercise and Sport Science, Engineering, or Rehabilitation Science)
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation

Post-doctoral training in Kinesiology or closely related field. Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist ( CSCS) certification.
