Executive Communication & Marketing

Job Description

The Joint Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing is looking for a project manager to support Integrated Communications projects, including executive communications, university events and institutional initiatives. Reporting to the Director of Integrated Strategic Communications, this position will be a key member of a team focused on projects that reflect the highest priorities of leadership for Mizzou and the UM System. A successful candidate must be professional, have excellent problem-solving, communication and relationship-building skills to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders across the university to deliver strong results.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Serve as a key point of contact on integrated and executive communications projects to see projects from beginning to completion to ensure successful execution of work by the team.
  • Support the integrated communications team on signature events, executive communications and top university priority projects through communications planning, content coordination and management, messaging and brand alignment, event logistics related to communications, and other needs, as necessary.
  • Utilize a project management tool (ClickUp) to support team projects from start to finish.
  • Create new and refine existing processes to ensure efficient and effective workflow on projects for the team.
  • Assist the Integrated Communications Director on project and communications planning, coordination and scheduling of project meetings with necessary partners.
  • Support integrated comms team through coordination of work to support the Board chair, Curators, President and Provost.
  • Support events coordinator on communication needs tied to signature events, including RSVP and guest list logistics, coordinating and ordering of marketing assets, scheduling of correspondence, etc.
  • Assist with content updates for president's homepage and UM System sites, as necessary.
  • Attend signature events to assist with staffing and to achieve optimal post-delivery communications and logistics.
  • Coordinate with campus and system partners to ensure approved and timely content is in use for campus and/or system communications.
  • Uphold the highest standard of customer service for all partners and audiences.
  • Content management system knowledge and experience preferred.
  • Graphic design knowledge and experience preferred.

PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONS

  • Must have strong project management skills with proven success using a project management tool.
  • Must have professional-level writing, editing and communications planning skills
  • Possess initiative, teamwork, creativity, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, time management, project management and presentation and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Maintain positive interpersonal relationships and exhibit effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks or events at one time meeting assigned deadlines.
  • Keep close attention to details on all projects.
Shift

M-F 8am - 5pm

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in communications or a related field
  • Highly organized self-starter with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at any given time
  • Outstanding collaboration skills and a proven ability to work with a wide variety of constituents in order to establish and meet shared institutional goals
  • Ability to set priorities, problem-solve, multi-task in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across different audiences, including senior leadership and administrators
  • Must demonstrate professionalism, customer service, etiquette, confidentiality, and integrity in their activities
  • Previous work experience in an education setting preferred
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $51,875 - $81,744 annually

Grade: GGS-9E
