Senior Product Development Engineer III (Airflow/Acoustics) - Plymouth, MN or Staunton, VA - Hybrid Make your mark at the world's largest HVAC company Daikin Applied is seeking a Senior Product Development Engineer III (Airflow/Acoustics) who will lead technology development and modular product architecture in the Refrigeration Subsystem. - Lead New Technology Introduction of any technologies in the air flow subsystem of both air-cooled and water-cooled chillers solutions into chiller applications using engineering fundamentals such as fluid dynamics, acoustics and mechanical analysis.
- Lead and contribute to the technology and design in the following areas:
- Fan design and analysis
- Air to refrigerant airflow optimization
- Air cooling in electronics
- Acoustics related to both airflow and other mechanical devices used in chillers
- Develop and ownership of a product-based modular strategy for the Airflow subsystems (all components and modules responsible for providing airflow and air-based heat transfer). This will include working with the New Product Implementation (NPI) engineers throughout the organization to ensure the relevant subsystems are designed with appropriate requirements, interfaces, and interactions
- Provide technical leadership as an internal Subject Matter Expert in airflow and acoustics
- Lead and mentor junior engineering team members in the development of airflow and acoustics competencies
- Support cross-functional groups to effectively deploy new technologies through smooth transitions into production
- Participate in design reviews to ensure best design practices are followed and alert the product team to any risks associated with respect to airflow and acoustics in chiller systems
- Represent the company's interests in external technical groups (i.e. ASHRAE, UL, AMCA, University consortia, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 4-year degree in engineering or related technical field and minimum 7 years of engineering experience
- Experience with structures and vibration in HVAC or industrial applications.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and a "team-player" mentality
- Desire to learn and develop world-class chiller knowledge
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Candidate must be driven with a high attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS or PhD degree in engineering or a related technical field

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $87,800 - $143,100 (+ bonus) in Minnesota or Virginia. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls.
