Chandler-Gilbert Community College is looking for a full-time Chemistry faculty for our Pecos campus that will effectively instruct students from various backgrounds in Chemistry courses in the classroom, laboratory, and online settings. We are looking for someone who will: participate in campus and/or District initiatives and committees and is active in division and program projects, community outreach, and professional growth endeavors. The position supervises and observes dual enrollment faculty and it provides leadership to adjuncts. The Chemistry faculty member will use instructional technologies and incorporate active learning techniques while working with a diverse population of students, faculty, administrators and staff. Essential Functions 50% Teaches a minimum of fifteen hours of CHM classes. 10% Develops syllabi, curricula, and relevant course materials; responds to student work. Documents assessment of Student Learning Outcomes and Gen Ed Outcomes in discipline. 20% Participates on campus and/or district committees and dual enrollment supervision & evaluation. 10% Holds office hours and mentors students and adjunct faculty. 5% Participates in relevant community outreach and professional growth activities. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree or higher in the teaching field* OR Master's degree or higher in any field with 18 graduate credit hours** *The following disciplines meet the requirements to teach in this field: Chemistry, Biochemistry, Geochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry Education (specifically), Polymer Science, Chemical Physics, Forensic Chemistry ** The following course titles and keywords meet the requirements for graduate credit: Chemistry, Chemical Research, Chemistry Seminar, Thesis Writing, Chemistry Education, Thermodynamics, Physical Chemistry, Quantum Mechanics, Statistical Mechanics, Molecular Biology, Molecular Physics, Nuclear Desired Qualifications 1. Ph.D. Chemistry, and/or the following: Biochemistry, Geochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry Education (specifically), Polymer Science, Chemical Physics, or Forensic Chemistry. 2. Two (2) or more years' experience of teaching Introductory and General Chemistry in a community college/university setting. 3. Experience in teaching chemistry in a variety of instructional modalities (in-person, online, and hybrid). 4. Experience engaging students using proven active learning strategies in lecture and laboratory. 5. Experience in assessing Chemistry curriculum at the course and program levels. 6. Experience working with and developing curricula for underrepresented, non-traditional, Liberal Arts, and pre-professional students. 7. Demonstrated experience in professional development for Chemistry and General Educational practices. 8. Experience with co-curricular activities such as science outreach, dual enrollment, service learning, learning communities, student clubs, etc. Special Working Conditions May be required to work at multiple campuses. May be required to work and instruct during evenings and weekends, and/or be assigned to teach on particular days. May be required to lift objects weighing up to 30 lbs.
