Overview
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Utah State University is seeking a postdoctoral fellow in synthetic organic chemistry. This is a one-year, 12-month, full-time position with the potential for renewal depending on performance and available funding. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and executing research activities, publishing scientific results in peer-reviewed journals, and maintaining a safe and organized research environment.

Responsibilities
  • Research Planning and Execution: Design and conduct experiments in synthetic organic chemistry. Analyze experimental data and maintain accurate records of research activities.
  • Publication and Communication: Prepare and submit manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Present research findings at conferences and departmental seminars.
  • Lab Management: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols. Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.


Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Ph.D. in organic chemistry or a closely related field.
  • Strong background in synthetic organic chemistry techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research.
  • Proven track record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and organized laboratory environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with photochemistry and ultrafast spectroscopy.
  • Experience with modern analytical techniques such as NMR/EPR, MS, and chromatography.
  • Familiarity with computational chemistry tools and techniques.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a research team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
