GENERAL PURPOSE

The Accounting Manager applies comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, concepts, theories, and techniques in conducting activities supporting the development, monitoring, and maintenance of ledger accounts and financial statements. Supervises a team of accounting and finance professionals and assigns personnel to tasks and projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Analyze and interpret data and reports containing complex accounting concepts, issues, and activities.

  • Assigns, monitors, reviews progress and accuracy of work, directing efforts and providing technical guidance on complex issues.

  • Collaborates with finance colleagues, internal, and external contacts to collect, validate, and interpret data.

  • Assists in communicating detailed information under general supervision.

  • Conducts and leads activities in support of maintaining ledger accounts/reporting for business units.

  • Provides professional mentoring to less experienced team members.

  • Researches and maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and how they may optimize current business practices.

  • Uses broadly defined procedures to support documentation processes in compliance with corporate financial guidelines.

  • Utilizes sound management skills to effectively lead a team of accounting and finance professionals towards the achievement of business objectives.

  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.

  • Master's degree or CPA.

  • 6 + years of experience in professional accounting.

  • 2 + years of experience as a manager or supervisor.

Skills and Abilities

  • Expert ability to think strategically and execute tactically; must be financially literate and possess well developed business acumen.

  • Exhibits a leadership style that reflects creative and innovative thinking, performing as a team player, and that is service oriented.

  • Demonstrated high level of written, verbal, and interpersonal skills to communicate information, ideas, procedures and processes in a logical sequence; at a level appropriate to the audience and resulting in effective working relationships.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use office automation, communication, software and tools.
