Join the HJF Team! HJF is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to be responsible for research and/or development in collaboration with others. The incumbent will conduct research on the project and provide laboratory and research support to other laboratory personnel; meet regularly with Principal Investigator to discuss research and related assignments, which may include attending meetings, conducting literature searches, designing experiments and conducting independent research, generating and analyzing data, operating laboratory equipment, drafting, editing and reviewing manuscripts and other reports, and providing teaching assistance. This position will be in support of the Department of Pharmacology at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) and the Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute (AFRRI). The particular research program includes analysis of the role of nucleic acid sensing pathways in the immune response to ionizing radiation and radioimmunopathogenesis at the cellular and organismal level. The incumbent will study the activity of pattern-recognition receptor-associated signaling, specifically the cGAS-STING and RIG-I/MDA5-MAVS axes, in response to ionizing radiation and radiation-related gene expression. The scope of work includes gene expression analysis with a particular interest in retroelement expression, analysis of cytokine profiles, intercellular communication, inflammatory and fibrosis markers. Laboratory experiments will be performed with human and murine macrophages, irradiated wild-type and transgenic mice. The effects of pharmacological modulators of specific pathways in response to pro- and anti-inflammatory signals and stress factors, including ionizing radiation will be analyzed. The Henry M.
