Position Summary:



Investigates building systems and documents operational data. Prepares recommendations for system improvements, maintenance programs and evaluations. This work is performed under the general supervision of the Engineering Project Manager and under the technical oversight of engineers.



Competencies:



A.



Education:



High school diploma or equivalent. An AA degree is preferred.



Specific training in the area of expertise (engineering and/or maintenance discipline) equivalent to 1 year of college; such training may be at a vocational or technical school, college, or apprenticeship sponsor organization.



Keeps current with changing technology and practices in the industry.





B.



Knowledge:



Advanced current knowledge of five specialties listed below, as well as the relevant local, state, federal and regulatory stipulations and codes.

Air/Water Balancing



Automatic Transfer Schemes



Chilled Water/Heating Water



Digital Controls and Monitoring

Develops extensive knowledge of five or more specialties indicated above.



Functional knowledge of computer applications (PC- and network-based), including Windows, departmental e-mail, word processing, database, spreadsheet; basic knowledge of project management, presentation, maintenance/work order processing and design/drawings.



Programming ability, program sequences, diagnosis and repair of complex digital systems. Calibrates metering.



Comprehensive knowledge of commissioning.



Proficient written and verbal English communication skills, on a college level.





C.



Skills:



Applies and integrates knowledge indicated herein.



High level of ability to solve problems and manage information indicated herein.



Ability to train staff. May require the ability to direct other technicians as related to installation and repair of specialized Facilities equipment.



Ability to use equipment indicated herein.



Ability to plan, research, analyze, coordinate, implement and present program requirements.



Interacts professionally with JHM/departmental staff as well as contractors, manufacturers, vendors and consultants.

10 years related work experience.

Machines, Tools, Equipment:



Specialized system testing instrumentation as applicable to pertinent discipline.



General office equipment such as computers, fax machines, copiers, phones, and presentation equipment and materials.



Salary Range: Minimum 25.73 per hour - Maximum 42.48 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.



In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
