Job Description

The UCLA Joint Institute for Regional Earth System Science and Engineering (JIFRESSE) invites applications for an Associate Project Scientist position focused on analyzing convective processes, dynamics, and lifecycles of convective systems using satellite remote sensing data.

The research activities will include:

* Studying the dynamics and convective processes of clouds and precipitation

* Analyzing the lifecycle of tropical deep convection

* Developing convective tracking datasets for future missions (e.g., AOS and INCUS)

* Creating observation-based metrics to evaluate key processes in climate models

Basic qualifications (required at time of application):

* Appointee must possess a recent doctorate degree, in the field of engineering, statistics, earth science, or related disciplines.

* Extensive knowledge and expertise in convective tracking

* Demonstrated experience in mentoring and leadership

* Experience organizing scientific conferences, workshops, or seminars

* A track record of successful proposal writing

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
