Description

This position will complete various reports and accounting procedures to prepare financial statements and other performance reports. This position includes a variety of accounting-related duties with an emphasis on accounts payable.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain accounts payable to ensure timely payment of bills.

* Review invoices for completeness and authorization of payment.

* Determine expense status of all invoices and assign expenses to appropriate general ledger (GL) accounts.

* Scan invoices into the accounts payable workflow and input for payment.

* Process, generate and mail payments to vendors, or create ACH payments as appropriate.

* Process employee reimbursements with the same level of review to ensure integrity in the payments.

* Maintain accurate and complete supporting documentation for all payments.

* Perform internal/external accounts payable inquiries regarding invoice payment status, vendor payment histories and other miscellaneous requests.

Ensure accurate and timely daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reconciliation of various GL accounts and internal accounts.

* Post journal entries and participate in the monthly GL close process.

* Prepare and post off system loan reconciliations.

* Prepare regulatory reports in an accurate and timely manner.

* Balance and record various daily processes performed in other departments to accurately reflect expense and revenue recognition.

* Assist others in monthly reporting as necessary.

* Assist the department managers with financial audit preparation.

Perform other accounting functions for maintenance of accounts.

* Daily and monthly balancing; internal account fundings; and first mortgage sold settlements.

* Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.

* Assist and support other Blaze employees in researching and resolving issues related to financial data or accounting records.

Other Duties

* Comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

* Regular and predictable attendance.

* Perform other duties as assigned to support effective department operation.

Requirements

Experience/Education/Certifications/Licenses

* A college degree in accounting highly preferred; High School degree and equivalent experience

* 2 to 3 years of experience as an Accountant, preferably in a financial institution

Demonstrated Knowledge

* Proficiency using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

* Ability to:

o Develop finance related calculations to incorporate into spreadsheet procedures

o Problem solve, make sound decisions and exercise good judgment

o Organize multiple tasks in a fast paced environment

* Willingness to learn company and industry specific processes, procedures, and principles.

Communication Skills

Ability to proactively respond to members/staff to problem solve based on guidelines; written communications are based on templates but can be modified.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit and stand; answer calls; operate a computer; interact with internal staff and public on the phone; travel to designated offices; lift up to 20 lbs.

This position is considered an "in-office" position. However, management may allow partial remote work at some point in the future.

We are committed to providing salary ranges for all open positions. Please note that the specific compensation for this role will be determined based on your experience, qualifications, location, and internal equity considerations.

The salary range for this position is: $23.81-$29.00. This range reflects the base salary for this position. We have other benefits associated with this position which include: low-cost medical (as low as $20 a paycheck), dental insurance, vision insurance, quarterly bonuses, generous vacation and sick time hours, paid leave options, up to 6% 401k contribution, and tuition reimbursement.
