Design & Construction Management

Job Description

The primary purpose of the Architect position is to engage customers, departments, administration, outside consultants, contractors, and construction managers to manage, design, budget, and produce construction documents and oversee the design portion of building projects on campus.

  • Analyzes design requirements, building code requirements, existing building infrastructure and systems, and applies standards and design guidelines to oversee and produce construction documents w/Revit and / or AutoCAD
  • Meets with clients to discuss project goals, design requirements, and desired aesthetics, gathering necessary information to develop a comprehensive design plan
  • Develops comprehensive architectural drawings including floor plans, elevations, sections, and details, ensuring adherence to building codes and regulations
  • Prepare detailed specifications for building materials, finishes, and construction requirements
  • Solves complex design, construction, and space management problems
  • Analyzes and produces project feasibility, programming, and design studies relative to requirements, budget, space needs, layout, and arrangement
  • Works with engineers, contractors, and other professionals to ensure design feasibility and seamless project execution
  • Excellent visual and spatial awareness, ability to create innovative and functional designs
  • Acts as a project manager for in-house design and external consultant led design projects
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation, and coordinates with engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders
  • Acts as a design, code, and knowledge resource for others in the department
  • Participates in design and technical reviews for their own and others in-house and capital projects
  • Effective communication with clients, contractors, and other team members to clearly convey design intent and address concerns
  • Explains difficult or sensitive information with a goal to build consensus
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications

Architect II: A Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Senior Architect: A Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Managing Architect: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 6 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Licensure or certification may be required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Architect's license in the State of Missouri or the ability to obtain within 6 months is preferred.
  • 6 years of architectural experience.
Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $70,000-$115,000 annually.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
