Job Summary

This position is scheduled to begin August 2025. Implements, manages and instructs a diverse student population in the Construction Management program using innovative teaching and learning techniques. Advises students, maintains office hours, assists with registration. Develops Construction Management curriculum and courses using traditional and innovative methods of instruction using the Canvas Learning Management System. Maintains professional competence, and participates in professional activities, construction advisory committee, recruitment efforts, and career/job fair. Assists in the development of budgets, orders equipment and supplies. Develops and maintains strong relationships with local industries, EVIT and WEST-MEC CTEDs and local high schools to secure enrollment, internship sites, assist in the placement of graduates and serve on the construction advisory committee.

Essential Functions
  • Instructs a diverse population of students in classroom and laboratory settings; develops written syllabi, course outlines, and instructional materials using Canvas; evaluates students' knowledge of the subject matter, monitors academic performance, prepares and grades exams, and maintains laboratories and related equipment; maintains academic support hours to assist and advise students
  • Promotes the construction management program by recruiting students and mentoring faculty on curriculum and program updates; ensures teaching remains current and effective by attending conferences, courses, seminars, and workshops
  • Participates in the academic life of the college by engaging in district-wide and campus committees, activities, and events.
  • Maintains a strong understanding of the Maricopa County Community College District's broad range of software systems, including Canvas, Ad Astra, financial, and travel authorization tools
  • Posts and maintains the required office hours and days on campus for student engagement
  • Teaches in-person and on-campus classes as needed, with a minimum of 15 load per semester; may also be required to work a modified schedule including Fridays, weekends, and mini-camps during winter breaks
  • Continuous learning through attendance at professional development activities such as conferences, courses, seminars, and workshops


Minimum Qualifications

The Occupational Teaching Fields require the following from an accredited college or university:
  • Five years of occupational experience in the field to be taught OR
  • Three years of occupational experience in the field to be taught and a Bachelor's degree or higher OR
  • A Master's degree or higher in the teaching field
  • A Journeyman certification in the field to be taught.


Desired Qualifications

A. Previous teaching experience at a university, college, technical or vocational school

B. Degree discipline in construction management, applied engineering science, or vocational technical education

C. Previous experience with different teaching modalities including in person, hybrid, online via computer, online only on your own time

D. Experience teaching construction management methods, materials, project management, estimating, statics, dynamics, and heavy equipment

E. Experience with course and curriculum development

F. Experience with delivering courses on Zoom, Webex, or Google meets

Special Working Conditions

Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D Driver's License is required; employee must meet district minimum standards regarding driving:

Local travel to multiple colleges and area high schools is required. Local travel to various MCCCD campuses is required.
