Job Summary

Mesa Community College is seeking an Engineering Faculty to engage with our program to improve student experience (engagement, assessment, enrollment, retention) and community involvement (clubs, special events, college collaborations, industry collaborations). This position is scheduled to begin August 2025. The selected candidate will plan, develop, teach, and assess classes for a variety of 100-level and 200-level engineering courses for a minimum of 15 load hours (30 clock hours) per semester. Additionally, they will serve on college or district committees, engage in professional growth opportunities, and collaborate with colleagues for the growth of the program.

Essential Functions

* Instructs a diverse population of students in classroom and lab settings for a variety of engineering courses, with a majority of course load taught in-person
* Develops syllabi, curriculum, and course materials
* Assesses student skills and knowledge of subject matter
* Maintains academic support hours to assist and advise students
* Facilitates activities outside the classroom for students (e.g., internships, undergraduate student research, clubs, experiences for students in the community)
* Engages in district-wide and/or campus committees and activities
* Provides leadership for the development, expansion, and implementation of the engineering program at MCC
* Develops and enhances knowledge of engineering and teaching skills through professional growth opportunities (e.g., conferences, courses, workshops)

Minimum Qualifications

The Academic Teaching Fields require the following from an accredited college or university:

A Master's degree or higher in an engineering discipline OR a Master's degree in any field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in an engineering discipline. Desired Qualifications

A. Experience in leadership roles on teams (e.g., committees, clubs, special events, etc.)
B. Experience using a variety of manufacturing or engineering design tools
C. Industry and/or research experience related to mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering
D. Teaching experience related to engineering mechanics (e.g., statics, dynamics, materials, CAD) or electrical engineering (e.g., circuits, signal processing, computer organization)
E. Experience developing a variety of training materials related to engineering research, industry, or education
F. Experience engaging students in active learning approaches incorporating best practices from education research
G. Experience assessing others' knowledge and skills with a variety of summative assessment approaches

Special Working Conditions

May be required to work at multiple sites or locations.
Travel to campus during the interview/selection process will be at the candidate's own expense.
May be required to sit for a prolonged period of time, viewing a computer monitor
