GENERAL PURPOSE Provide leadership, oversight and direction to the application of product management/ development tools, technologies, product information and technical support staff for the MillerKnoll global product teams. Lead strategic areas of program development where engineering technology tools, systems, processes and product information can actively enhance corporate-wide development capabilities and customer-valued goods or services. Activities conducted place an emphasis on teamwork, leadership, advocacy for understanding, applying new technologies, reducing time to market and improving agility within Product Development, Engineering and Configuration teams. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Actively networks within the organization and throughout the value chain (including internal & external customers) to ascertain opportunities for improved business performance within the function. Continually improves the efficiency and effectiveness of the work team with the aim of fostering a culture of innovation where the teams and associates work together to effectively utilize their unique skills and expertise. Consistently provide process clarity, improvement and projects updates with full transparency to consistently help the enterprise understand the function and responsibilities of the product engineering services function. Facilitates understanding and application of new technologies with the goal of reducing time to market and an improved product development process. Drives awareness of leading-edge processes, automations, and capabilities that ultimately lead to the implementation of innovative solutions for product development and manufacturing processes across the enterprise. Influence management to secure resources necessary to fulfill business improvement potential through product development information technology investments. Lead teams that are responsible for the development, maintenance and successful launch of product information including the accuracy and integrity of the data to ensure a positive ordering and specifying experience for the customer. Lead the global database, configuration, engineering systems, CAD, and support teams (development engineering and database) in setting strategy and providing vision for technology and process improvement to support product development and mass customization capabilities. Leads and/or guides the development of major corporate strategic technology and/or process initiatives within IT, operations, development, manufacturing, transformation and other enterprise functions, often through participation in steering teams. Maintain awareness of leading-edge processes, and capabilities that would lead to innovative solutions for product development, engineering systems and database/ configuration teams. Develop mid-term plans to optimize organization and talent requirements to execute strategies for the area of responsibility. Support and maintain all configuration models and engineering systems for the MillerKnoll enterprise. Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline. Master's Degree or equivalent experience is desirable. 10 to 15 years relevant experience in Product Development/ Engineering, and/ or Information Technology with overall cross-functional business experience preferred; 5 to10 years should include progressively more responsible professional management positions.
Skills and Abilities
Proven knowledge and experience in CAD/CAM/PDM and Technology Management. In depth understanding of New Product Development process and supportive technologies, and how these technologies integrate across the enterprise. Basic understanding of IT tools (Java, XML, Web infrastructure, MS Project), project management concepts/thinking (scope/resource management, and risk management), and the proven ability to apply these concepts successfully to project or business results. Demonstrates a relationship building orientation when approaching assignments. Outstanding communication skills and a proven capability to present complex concepts in a concise and understandable way to a variety of audiences, including leadership and customer groups, in order to influence in matters of strategic importance. Advanced business acumen which includes knowledge in fields such as product development, IT (information technology), accounting, finance, quality, marketing, and operations. Demonstrated ability to articulate a vision and strategy for advancing the capabilities in the area of expertise, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and objectives. Ability to effectively administrator and orchestrate work process for a variety of technical resources (people, expense, capital) under shifting conditions and with different tasks, responsibilities, and people. Ability to effectively motivate people to accomplish departmental objectives through exhibiting tenacity and drive until the job is complete. Proven track record of attaining success in engineering and management assignments. Demonstrated ability to effectively use office automation/communication software and tools currently used in the MillerKnoll office environment.
