Position Summary |
The primary location of this position is on the main Cullowhee, NC campus.
This position provides administrative and clerical support for the Office of Engagement within the Division of Advancement and reports directly to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Engagement. The nature of the work involves the full range of activities necessary for the effective day-to-day activities of the office in support of the areas of alumni engagement, annual giving, and advancement communications within the Office of Engagement. Among work requirements from the office based in Cullowhee, NC are greeting the public in person and on the phone and providing appropriate assistance; composing emails, letters, memoranda, meeting minutes, and reports, which often require independent research to complete; designing and maintaining filing systems; making travel arrangements and completing related expense reports; participating in the maintenance of database accuracy; calendaring to include scheduling meetings and conferences with individuals both within and outside of the University; assisting in updating and maintaining the Office of Engagement website; purchasing, maintaining and replenishing office supplies; creating requisitions for purchase orders; maintaining the incoming mail log and distributing mail; operating standard office equipment; managing special projects as assigned by the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Engagement; and providing support for related volunteer boards.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position |
Work requires non-routine activities and tasks and occasional deviation from established procedures, and therefore requires the use of initiative and good judgment to select courses of action based on sensitivity to the situational differences presented by the issues of the day. Successful candidate should have: excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to interact with the public; excellent phone manner and customer service orientation; ability to work well against deadlines; attention to detail; planning and organizing skills; and flexibility and adaptability. |
